The two-time champion of the tournament in Rome Maria Sharapova qualified for the final. The third placed Russian won with 7:5, 6:3 against the qualifier Daria Gavrilova for one hour and 48 minutes. So, she took revenge for the sensational loss of this rival in Miami. On Sunday, Masha will argue with Carla Suarez Navarro for the title.
The success returned Sharapova on the second place in the world rankings where she displaces Simona Halep. The meeting ended with 27 winners and Masha hits 25 unforced errors. Gavrilova made 10 winners and 24 errors.
Sharapova leads with 3-1 defeats against the Spaniard Suarez Navarro, but the two never played on clay courts. The last time when the two players have met was in January this year in Brisbane, where Maria won with 6:1, 6:3.
