The best Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov recorded extremely difficult victory at the start of the tournament in Rotterdam (ATP 500). 5th in the scheme has a 4:6, 7:6(2), 6:2 over veteran from France - Paul-Henri Mathieu in the match that lasted more than two hours.
At the end of the second set, Grigor had to save two match points. It happened at 6:4, 5:4 for Mathieu and his service. Dimitrov has been able to return to the game literally at the last moment.
In the tiebreaker came the most interesting time in the match, which ultimately proved fateful. In the first point, Dimitrov has been lucky, because a retur-winner of Mathieu landed on the line. But there was a signal for out and Grigor had his hand up for the "hawk eye".
However, the judge decided the ball to be replayed, which infuriated Mathieu and subsequently Frenchman totally lost his rhythm. As an experienced player, Grigor took advantage of the situation, managed to get tiebreak in the third set and won with 6:2 after two breakthroughs.
"Difficult win, but I`m glad that I managed to achieve it. At the end of the second set I found my game. The audience that supported me until the end, helped me very much" said Grigor in the interview on the court.
In the second round sportsman No1 of Bulgaria will face the winner of the match between David Goffin and Gilles Muller, which will go on the court tonight.
