Ilkaj Gundogan is now officially Manchester City footballer. Citizens and Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the deal. He signed a four-year contract with the English club.
Manchester City will pay to Borussia Dortmund for the 25-year-old midfielder - 20 million pounds.
`I`m excited that I signed with Manchester City.`, commented Gundogan ahead of the official website of the club.
`When I learned that Manchester City is interested in me, I listened to my heart. Things have happened very quickly.`, said Ilkaj Gundogan.
As the reason for his desire to transfer Ilkaj indicates the possibility to work together with Pep Guardiola, who takes over officially the team by 1 July.
A curious fact is that Gundogan is currently recovering from an injury, will miss the European Championships in France.
He recently underwent surgery on his right knee and will be recovered nearly five months, which means he will miss the summer preparation and Guardiola will not be able to use him at the beginning of the season.
Ilkaj Gundogan played for four years at Borussia Dortmund.
